Dorkhenge is the USS Blackheart's straight-up old-school 8-node BBS that's home to some of our games, like TradeWars 2002 and Legend of the Red Dragon. It is a Synchronet BBS, and is accessible via telnet. It lives in Delaware but is accessible to the whole world!
Accessing Dorkhenge (bhtw.dyndns.org)
There are a lot of ways to open a telnet session: If you're using Windows, you can download PuTTy and connect to
bhtw.dyndns.org -- Just make sure that the 'Telnet' radio button is clicked before you start the connection, or nothing will happen. If you're using OS X, you can open a terminal and type 'telnet bhtw.dyndns.org' without the quotes, hit enter and you'll be on your way.
New User or Guest?
Totally up to you. Once you get to the main menu, you can hit 'X' for 'External Programs' and access the games. Logging in as a new user will give you access to other parts of Dorkhenge which may be less interesting to you than the games. You're welcome either way!
DOVE stands for DOmain VErtrauen, and is a worldwide network of BBSes that share messages. Dorkhenge dials out to the network hub six times a day, and uses QWK to sync messages both to and from the network. All of the message bases on Dorkhenge are connected up through DOVE-Net, so please be aware that anything you write there will be sent to every other system.
For help with Dorkhenge, you can send an E-mail to the CO. He'll help you out as best he can! Also, you can feel free to ask about Dorkhenge on the IRC server or Facebook chat, as well.
